I graduated from The Guildhall at SMU with a Masters of Interactive Technology in Digital Game Development, focusing on Art Creation.
I decided to pursue environment art because I absolutely love the process of taking a 2D representation of an object or a scene, deconstructing it piece by piece, and recreating it in 3D as accurately as possible. After decades of drawing and having a career as a Graphic Designer, creating art for games felt like the natural progression of my professional life. I have been an avid video game player through most of my life, and being a valuable part of the games industry is a goal that I’ve wanted to achieve since childhood, thanks to a life-changing introduction to a little beast of a console called the Sega Genesis.
I’ve been very fortunate to be experiencing the results of reaching my goal at this moment. As a 3D artist I’ve had the chance to hone the skills I’ve learned with the different projects I have been a part of. I’ve had the opportunity to work with settings as varied as futuristic science-fiction, medieval fantasy, and more recently colorful, cartoony locations.
Though I love low and high poly modeling in 3DS Max and similar tools, I am becoming increasingly fond of 3D sculpting. I also have traditional drawing skills which have helped me greatly in generating concept art as well as hand-painted textures. My background in Graphic Design has also proven useful in the creation of user interfaces for games that range from PC to mobile platforms.
